Welcome
to Laughing Bear Batik Studio!
|
 |
We
are located at 11 Jane Street, Saugerties, NY. This is where our
beautiful 100% cotton apparel is produced.
|
| Susie
is dipping a copper-tipped Tjanting tool into melted wax. The melted
wax flowing out of the Tjanting tool's tip allows us to create the
unique designs seen on all of our comfortable clothing. |
 |
 |
Susie
is drawing on the adorable lady bugs in this picture. All of our
hand-made garments are one-of-a-kind and beautifully drawn.
The
moon, cloud and heart designs that are seen at the top of the picture
are slipped inside the easy-to-wear clothes as a guide for our melted
wax drawing.
|
| Our
natural, cotton apparel is all specially designed for our customers.
These adorable, hand drawn giraffes are just one example of the unique
designs that we offer. |
 |
. |
The
vibrant colors of our comfortable apparel are made from the dye powder
which Debra is measuring in this picture |
| In
this picture, a mortar and pestle are used to grind the colorful powdered
dye. Everything done to make these natural, 100% cotton garments is
done by hand. |
 |
 |
Here,
the brilliant dye powder is being blended with water so we can add
an exciting splash of color to all our natural, beautiful clothing. |
| The
dye is now being poured through a strainer into a washing machine
to get that exciting color to stick to our 100% cotton garments. |
 |
 |
The
comfortable clothes are weighed in this picture for the dye bath.
When they come out, they will be looking fresh and beautiful! |
| Our
comfortable, versatile clothing is now being placed into the dye bath
where the brilliant colors will stick to them and make them into great
gifts for any occasion! |
 |
 |
Batik
magic is being made here! Our versatile clothing is immersed in
the dye bath to allow the color to attach itself everywhere on the
clothing except where our adorable designs have been drawn.
|
| Here,
Debra is adding the dye fixer to the dye bath, a pool of color for
our hand made creations! |
 |
 |
Our
natural clothing takes a creative twist when Susie, shown here on
the left, begins removing the wax left behind from our unique pictures
drawn onto the garments when they were boiled.
|
| Heavy
lined gloves are used to remove the sopping clothing from the boiling
water for rinsing. |
 |
 |
The
beauty never ends! Barbara is applying exciting accessories, such
as bright fabric paint and vibrant glitter, to the clothing after
it has been boiled, rinsed and dried.
|
|
Our
supply shelves are being stacked here by Barbara with yet another
easy to wear, colorful shirt!
|
 |
And
that is the secret to batiking with Laughing Bear Studio!
